PrePower & CanPowerSkate

PrePower is designed for skaters who have passed through the CanSkate program and are looking for an alternative to figure skating, or for those skaters who want to further develop hockey/ringette skating skills.

Skaters must already have either passed Stage 2 of the CanSkate program or have the ability to skate forward the length of the rink, skate backwards the width of the rink, be able to stop forward & backward, turn, glide, and balance on 1 ft. They must be confident skaters.

PrePower helps develop basic skating abilities in a power skating-specific environment, including balance skills, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, and agility skills. The curriculum is presented in three progressive levels, each complete with its own awards to encourage participation and motivate skaters.

CanPowerSkate is designed for skaters who have passed the PrePower levels or have been evaluated by a skating coach. It is an action-packed, high-energy instructional power skating program focusing on balance, power, agility, speed, and endurance. Skills, techniques, and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. Its unique skill award program provides incentives and motivation for skaters to continue to achieve.

For safety reasons, participants should wear full hockey/ringette equipment that is CSA-approved. CSA -Approved Hockey Helmets with a face shield are MANDATORY (NO Bicycle or ski helmets).
